Recycling boxes & feeding booths

An interesting concept was designed for the Metropole Istanbul in Turkey. The citizens have the option to return recycle garbage to the "Pugedon" stations. Those boxes collect and separate used plastic bottles and metal cans. Two different insertion holes are equipped with sensors, which are recognizing the type of material. As soon as the recycling material drops in, a trigger releases dry food for animals and water into feeding containers below. An additional sensor warns once the collector is full or the feeding tank is empty. These boxes can be purchased by individuals, government or companies.
The inventor intends to challenge different issues:
To feed stray pets (approx. 150'000 stray dogs in Istanbul)
Improve the recycling culture in Turkey
Show people, that it is possible to help stray animals without spending money
Doing good deeds with things they normally throw away
The project has been criticised for caring more about hungered animals than people, and to train the pets to eat at one place. The inhabitants next to those boxes were afraid about too many stray pets around their houses. Therefore, considerations should be made about the place of installation.

Nevertheless, the innovative concept is sustainable due to collection of recycling material, the box is working on solar panels and requires no energy consumption. The advantage is that people are trained to recycle. At the same time, the animal hunger can be solved.
