Is it the right way to go?

On 21 May 2017, the swiss public accepted with a majority of 58.2% the new revised Energy Act “Energiestrategie 2050”. With this decision, the public paved the way for a sustainable energy supply. The act should help to reduce the energy consumption, to support the renewable energy and to be more energy efficient.

Nevertheless, can it already be said that the new act is the right solutions for a sustainable energy supply and the total guarantee for a gapless energy supply of Switzerland? Politicians as well as scientists have tussled over the same question.

For the supporter, “the Energiestrategie 2050” means to preserve planning security, to be more independent from abroad (especially from countries with precarious political and living conditions) as well as to promote the local economy. In addition, forms of renewable energy are also aided.

The opponents on the other hand see a huge increase in electricity costs for the population as well as for companies. This would lead to a removal from productions sites out of Switzerland.

However, whether it was the right decision, we will see in the near future.

From my point of view, we have chosen the right way or the right goal. What we can say in the near future is, if we have put the right shoes on to go this way.
