A new system could revolutionize the vegetable market, for more sustainability development. Nature & More, a Dutch distributor, and Swedish supermarkets (ICA) began to market labeled vegetables and fruits with lasers. This new technique is a solution to save on label printing and brand identification.
Swedish supermarkets estimate to save 200km of plastic strips (30cm large) only on avocados. By printing less plastics and labels, this reduces production costs, energies and consequently the CO2 emissions.
Is it necessary to distort the fruit / vegetable to contribute to sustainable development actions?

Consumers are demanding less and less unnecessary packaging so they do not have to be responsible for discarding or sorting. However, this method can be considered archaic and could be a controversial topic. It is unlikely to develop rapidly in all countries, with a different sensitivity to nature.
However, this method would have no negative impact on foods and could allow some companies to distinguish themselves more on their product. In addition, several fruits will certainly be scattered, like strawberries, cherries and grapes. I am very curious until where this innovation will develop on these primordial foods on our health.
